Welcome to West Independent School District!

Whether you are joining us for the first time, returning for another school year, or considering making West your new home, I am honored to welcome you to our Trojan family. West ISD is a special place where strong relationships, high expectations, and a deep sense of community come together to support our students.

For generations, West ISD has been a source of pride for West, Texas, and the surrounding communities. Our roots reach back to 1892, and through the years, generations of families have walked our halls, worn the red and black, and carried the Trojan spirit into their lives and careers. We are proud of our history and the traditions that connect our past to our present. We are equally proud of the resilience of our community, which came together following the 2013 West Fertilizer Plant explosion to rebuild and create new opportunities for our students. 

Today, West ISD serves students from prekindergarten through high school at West Elementary School, West Middle School, and West High School. Across our campuses, our teachers, staff, and leaders work to provide students with a strong academic foundation while helping them discover their interests, develop their talents, and prepare for their futures. We want every student to know they belong, that they are supported, and that the people around them believe in their ability to succeed.

We have much to celebrate in West ISD! Our schools are annually recognized for earning A-ratings in the Texas Education Agency’s accountability system, being listed as a Texas Honor Roll School, and receiving U.S. News & World Report award badges for education excellence. These honors reflect the hard work of our students and staff and the support of our families and community. 

Our accomplishments extend well beyond the classroom. Over the years, West ISD students and programs have earned recognition at the district, regional, state, and national levels in academics, fine arts, agriculture and career programs, and athletics. From the classroom to the stage, the show ring to the playing field, our students have opportunities to explore their interests, take on new challenges, and represent West ISD with pride.

To our new families, we look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into our schools and community. With the support of our Board of Trustees, staff, families, and community, we will continue working together to give every student the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
