For Consideration during Upcoming Board Meeting

As part of the agenda item, the Board will review, deliberate, and vote on certifying to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that West ISD complies with applicable requirements outlined in SB 12.

The meeting will begin at 6:00 PM in the West ISD Administration Building at 406 West Shook Street, West, TX 76691. Members of the public are invited to provide public comment on the compliance report prior to the Board vote.

PUBLIC NOTICE OF INTENT TO CONSIDER SENATE BILL 12 COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION

  • Date of Posting: Tuesday, September 1, 2026
  • Meeting Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 6:00 PM in the West ISD Administration Building at 406 West Shook Street, West, TX 76691.

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of West ISD will consider approval of the district’s annual Certification of Compliance under Texas Education Code §39.008 (Senate Bill 12) during its September Regular Board Meeting on September 9, 2026.

Agenda Item Summary: The Board of Trustees will review, deliberate, and vote on certifying to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) that West ISD complies with:

  • Texas Education Code §11.005: Prohibitions on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) roles, departments, training, and preferential practices.
  • Texas Education Code §28.0022: Instructional standards, restrictions on sexual orientation/gender identity instruction, and parental consent requirements.
  • Cost Impact Reporting: Verification of operational impacts and cost savings ($0 net savings).
  • Public Testimony: Members of the public are invited to provide public comment on this compliance report prior to the Board vote.
