Communication with the Board of Trustees

 
In matters of specific complaints, concerns, and suggestions, all appropriate channels should be exhausted before addressing it to the Board of Trustees. These appropriate channels are as follows: 
 
(1). Contact the Staff Member
 
The most direct route to resolving a concern is to confer directly with the person involved, (i.e., teacher, coach, etc.). The majority of concerns are resolved by a conversation between those involved. 

(2). Contact the Campus Administrator
 
The campus Principal and Assistant Principal are responsible for the school’s operation. Explanations of policies and procedures and various clarifications are available in campus administration offices. 

(3). Contact a District Administrator 
 
This may be a(n) Coordinator, Director, Assistant Superintendent, or the Superintendent. This step should be taken only after Steps 1 and 2 have not resolved the concern.
 
(4). Contact the Board of Trustees
 
The West ISD Board of Trustees should be contacted only after Steps 1-3 (listed above) have been completed. The Board of Trustees may be contacted by requesting a hearing through the Superintendent’s office. The West ISD Board of Trustees serves as an appeal body in resolving disputes. A Board Member may choose to recuse himself or herself at the time of the hearing if he or she has been involved prior to the hearing.
 
Sharing Information with the Board of Trustees
 
If you have information you would like to share with the Board, there are several ways to communicate with the Board of Trustees. 
  • By E-mail: West citizens may communicate with the members of the Board by emailing them. All emails are located on the following website: West ISD Board Members. 
  • Regular Board Meetings: West citizens may sign-up to speak during the "audience" portion of the Regular Board Meetings. All Board Meeting information is located on the following website: West ISD BoardBook Premier. 
  • By Letter: West citizens may send a letter to the West ISD Board of Trustees at 406 W. Shook St., West, TX, 76691.
  • By Fax: West citizens may fax the Board Members at (254) 826-3342.
